We even made it through December 21, the date that had all kinds of speculations and beliefs surrounding it. There were those who believed that the earth was going to be obliterated and life as we know it would be no more. Then there were those who didn’t believe anything was going to happen and that life would go on as usual. The others are those who believe that the date signifies the beginning of a grand spiritual awakening and that our world is going to be moving into a more loving, peaceful, and compassionate global community. To our human mind, it seems like life is just going forward as usual.
What do I believe? I tend to believe that we are in the midst of a spiritual awakening, though it cannot always be seen by the naked eye. Sometimes you really have to look with the eyes of the soul to see the changes that are occurring. Life has gone into hyper speed, moving faster than we’ve ever known it to in the past. Just these past few years, we are seeing everything that isn’t working in our world, our nation, and our lives coming to light so that we can cleanse and heal it. Maybe it’s because of the advancement of the media in the way of more TV stations, computers, instant media messaging and the like that news is traveling faster and to more people. As soon as something happens, we know about it.
Some of the issues that have been coming to light are what’s not working in various areas of our government, politics, religions, health care, education, media, military, finances, environment, and on and on it goes. It seems like our world is in chaos, but if we weren’t made aware of all these issues that aren’t working, then how can we cleanse and heal them, as well as improving them so that they do work?
It is said that our world is experiencing birthing pains into something new. When looking at it like this, how can we look at our own lives to improve our way of life, our communities, our nation, and our world? I look at it like this. This spiritual awakening is a time to make choices as to what direction we want our future to go. Do we want everything to continue as it has been? Or do we want to move into a better world, not only for ourselves, but for our children?
We have a choice as to where to focus our energies. We can focus on the energies of darkness, where there is fear, hate, bigotry, ignorance, and intolerance, or we can focus on the energies of light, where there is love, compassion, kindness, harmony, and peace. It’s a moment by moment choice in the way of our actions and the words we speak. Are we going to build people up or tear them down? Are we going to improve our lives, or destroy? Are we going to continue to find fault and call people names? Our actions and the words we speak are more of a reflection on us than those we speak against. We have the choice, and we have the power.
On New Year’s Eve night, I made a list of my intentions for the New Year. I may not always accomplish them, but they are something I am choosing to strive for every day. In this new year, I intend that:
I will have more love, compassion, and understanding for all my fellow beings and my world. I will commit more random acts of kindness. I will say more encouraging words to lift people up. I will do my very best to stay positive and optimistic, as well as looking for the good in all people and all things. I will be grateful for all my blessings. I will take care of myself and be proactive in my own healthcare. I will appreciate the lessons life brings to me even if they might cause me discomfort or pain. I will learn more to gain not only knowledge, but the wisdom to be wise. I am going into the New Year expecting great and wonderful things not only for myself, but for those I love and for the world. I will believe that life is good and beautiful, and the best is yet to come. I will constantly work on myself to be the best person I can be. And I will consistently turn to Spirit and enhance my direct connection to the All That Is.
Wishing you and yours a wonderful, prosperous, happy, and healthy new year!
