Many of Karen's topics are spiritual and inspirational, but she also has topics she can use for secular venues. Below are just a few:
Love is a Many Splendored Thing Love is a word that gets tossed around a lot. Some say we overuse it to the point that it's almost become a cliché. Karen says we don't use it enough. There are many forms of love, such as Eros, Philia, Mania, Agape, and others. The most important of these is Agape, and the one Karen believes is the most important kind of love. This is the love that Jesus and so many other great Spiritual Masters felt for all of humanity. Weaving examples from her own life experiences, Karen teaches how we can love others, as well as ourselves. By asking ourselves, "What would love do now," we can make better choices by being empathetic and understanding towards others.
The Audacity of Belief Everything we think we know or believe is just that...a belief. Many years ago there was a TV show called "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" where Bill Bixby played the father. In one episode, the son asked his dad about beliefs and how they can all be so different. The father said something that I have always remembered: "What a person believes...is." If you look at the world, you see there are thousands of different religions, and each of them differs either somewhat or drastically in their beliefs. Or it could be something as simple as being pro-abortion or anti-abortion, pro-capital punishment or anti-capital punishment, being Democrat or Republican, vegetarian or meat eater, and so on. So, who's right and who's wrong? Most everyone will say that they are right and everyone else is wrong. But once you understand that everything is just a belief, then people can learn to be more accepting and tolerant, while allowing each other the right to their beliefs without taking it personally or making anyone right or wrong. (As long as no one is hurting anyone.) This is a talk to open people's minds and taking their beliefs out of the box. Empowering Your Inner Magnificence Karen totally believes that when we are born, we are born as pure, unconditional, perfect love, and that we are born geniuses. We are born knowing our magnificence and our connectedness to the Universe. As we start to grow, we gradually begin to forget who we really are and are taught to be someone else. For whatever reasons, we take on low self-esteem, low self-worth, and feelings of not being good enough. The secret is in remembering. The difference between knowing and not knowing is believing that it is so. How do we release all the negative programming that we grew up with and learn to re-program our brains to know just how magnificent and wonderful we really are!
It's Okay to Be Happy! For many of us, we feel that for some reason we don't deserve to be happy. Even when we have those moments of feeling happy, we're waiting for 'the other shoe to drop.' We don't think it can last. Happiness can be fleeting in that it comes and goes, and that's perfectly normal for any human being. Karen assures us that it really is okay to be happy, and it's even okay to be happy all the time if we so choose. It really is true that happiness is an inside job, and happiness is a choice. What are some things we can do to change our beliefs so that we can live a life of joy and to live a life well lived?
Workshops
Empowering Your Inner Magnificence In this workshop, we explore where our original feelings of low self-esteem and low self-worth originate, and how we can overcome them through becoming aware of who we really are on a cosmic level. We discover our Inner Magnificence. A lot of it is just learning to re-program those old tapes that no longer serve us and replacing them with new and improved tapes that reveal our inner greatness and our part in the Universe. Until you know that those old tapes are outdated, you don't know that they need replaced. The workshop is interactive so participants can choose to participate or just sit back and listen. No one is forced to do anything they are not comfortable in doing.
